A downloadable game for Windows

Status:

This is a prototype I've been working on since october 2024. It started as a college project, but I believe it has the potential to be a full game.

Please, note that every visual and audio asset used currently is a placeholder, thus why I haven't added images or videos yet.

You will play as a shut-in alchemist that is trying to get back into business day by day. The game currently only has the first day, and don't worry if the project closes after the day ends... It's supposed to do that right now.

It is inspired in games such as Potion Craft, for the mechanics and overall gameplay loop; Paper's Please, for the day mechanic and narrative; and Presentable Liberty for the visuals and partialy the narrative.

Instructions:

This is a purely point-and-click game. Every action uses only the mouse.

HUD:

On the top left, you have your money. On the top right, a timer until the day is over. In the bottom center, there is your inventory, and on the bottom left, the current order you have.

Store:

The store opens once the day is over. The sales are random each run and it's where you can replace your spent items.

Door:

Once you hear the knock on the door, there is a client and they will order one of the potions avaliable in the prototype. Click the window on the door to view.

Stock:

The stock is where you will pick up the ingredients for the potions, they are currently divided into Base, Plant, Ore and Flask. It currently holds 5 of each item.

Table:

The table is where most of the game happens. You will craft potions here. Here is what you can use in this prototype:

- Distillery (far left)

- Hourglass, each turn counts 5 seconds.

- Bellows, each press boils the liquid in the caldron for 10 seconds.

- Caldron, throw the ingredients inside. The bellows only work after you have added a liquid base.

- Rope above the caldron, to dry items. Only dries if the liquid in the caldron is currently boiling.

- Book, all potions avaliable are written in the book. Every potion currently uses three ingredients each.

- Mortar (to the right of the book), where you can crush your ingredients.

- Pots (above mortar to the right), two vacant slots to place whatever you need.

- Trash (Under the pots), just a slot to throw away anything you don't need or was wasted.

Conditions:

Conditions are currently only avaliable to plants.

- Dry: Just placing the ingredient on the rope and boiling a liquid starts the drying process. Every plant has four stages of dry (normal, half-dry, fully dry and dehydrated). Once it passes the last stage, it is wasted.

- Crushed: Click and drag the pebble up and down to crush. Every can be crushed, and the player may stop the process at any moment. Finding the correct moment to stop can give a better quality ingredient.

- Boil: Once and ingredient is added to a boiling base liquid, it starts to boil. It can be normal, boiled or hard boiled. Each boil stage takes 10 seconds to happen. Once it passes the last stage, it is wasted.

Crafting:

If you follow the recipe in the book, once the three ingredients are ready and added to the caldron, click "Mix", the click and drag the spoon from side to side to mix everything. Then, you must add a Flask to the caldron to get your potion ready. If it comes out as a black liquid, it is wasted. If not...
